The configurator component provides a guided, web-based step-by-step configuration for the issuance of microcredentials. In the greatest level of detail, it asks for the course, document language, students list and other information, as well as credential content depending on the chosen :ref:`schema`. The :ref:`configuration` file and session folder with all auxiliary files is produced on that basis.

Based on that configuration, it then wraps the 'automatic.sh' script to generate two workspace folders. Specifically, it produces a test set of :ref:`artefacts`, and finally all production and reference artefacts along with e-mail notification templates.

The level of detail can be reduced with input from a grade management system, such as Evento. Information taken from there does not have to be inquired again, and the corresponding steps are skipped, leading to a rapid issuance process.
